Broad consensus needed for adopting resolution on Kosovo-Metohija

Serbian Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Goran Bogdanovic announced that this week he will hold initial meetings with caucus whips regarding the resolution on Kosovo-Metohija.

In an interview to Jagodina television Palma Plus, Bogdanovic said they will try to reach a common position and agree on a resolution which will be accepted by both the opposing and ruling parties.
According to him, the goal is to obtain absolute parliament support for the resolution because the Kosovo issue does not concern one coalition only, or one government and one ministry, but is a national and state issue, therefore broad consensus regarding its adoption is necessary.
Bogdanovic said that the postponement of its adoption did not question Serbia’s policy towards the province, because the government has continued with its principled policy for the preservation of territorial integrity and sovereignty. He added that the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the EU gives Serbia hope and an opportunity to keep fighting to retain Kosovo within its borders.
Speaking about the Kosovo security forces, Bogdanovic said that their formation will be a problem for the entire Western Balkans.
This security aspect is very risky for the entire Western Balkans. The formation of such an army can only exacerbate relations between Serbs and Albanians, deepen the distrust that already exists there, said the Minister and added that this army is unacceptable for the Serbian community and that Serbs will take no part in it.
As for the EULEX, Bogdanovic said that there is no dilemma there because the mission cannot be accepted without UN approval.
