Serbian government, UNMIK continue talks

State Secretary in the Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija Oliver Ivanovic said that UNMIK representatives, led by UNMIK Chief Lamberto Zannier, will arrive in Belgrade on September 12 to continue talks with Serbian government representatives on the return of Serbian representatives to police and judiciary of Kosovo.
Ivanovic told the Tanjug news agency that modalities will be sought to include Serbs in police and judiciary bodies in Kosovo, but not those connected with transitional institutions in Pristina and the EULEX mission, but only UNMIK.
By cooperating only with UNMIK, we respect UN Security Council Resolution 1244 which recognises Serbia’s territorial integrity, Ivanovic added.
He stressed that Serb participation in Kosovo police will provide protection of the Serb community in the province.
No one can benefit from this situation with no rule of law and no protection for the Serbian people, especially in central Kosovo and small enclaves, and we need to sort this situation out, said Ivanovic.
