Consultations to be held on Kosovo resolution

Serbian Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Goran Bogdanovic said today that he will initiate meetings with party whips in order to find the best and most acceptable text for the resolution on Kosovo.

In a statement to the news agency Tanjug, Bogdanovic said that the text will highlight the continuity of state policy towards Kosovo, and added that differences between the government and opposition on this matter must be reduced to a minimum.

This is our aim and our interest, considering the fact that this issue cannot concern only one party, one coalition, one ministry, not even one government, said the Minister.

He said that the government is trying to reach as wide a consensus as possible and this is why we have chosen to bring together all parliamentary parties to motivate them to vote for the resolution, since Kosovo is the oldest and most difficult national issue.

He said that our policy towards Kosovo should be what unites us, and not become the basis for further and deeper divisions between us.

According to Bogdanovic, Kosovo must be the most important national and political issue for the Serbian government and the entire country.

He confirmed that the government intends to prepare a joint text of the resolution acceptable to all parties, but is not sure if the group of 108 MPs will still insist that their proposal resolution should be an item on the parliament’s agenda.
