Serbian Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Goran Bogdanovic said that the withdrawal of the government proposed resolution on the continuity of state policy towards Kosovo-Metohija from the agenda of the Serbian parliament does not mean that the authorities have changed their stance on the province as the government remains dedicated to the principles of preservation of Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Bogdanovic told the Tanjug news agency that the withdrawal of the government proposed resolution on the continuity of state policy towards Kosovo-Metohija from the agenda of the Serbian parliament does not mean that the government has changed its stance on the southern Serbian province.

He reiterated that Serbia will never recognise the independence of Kosovo and is resolved to reject all acts contrary to Resolution 1244, adding that Serbia’s stance is to solve all issues on Kosovo-Metohija through the UN Security Council.

He added that Kosovo should not be the ground for further divisions, but must be the most important national, political and state issue of the whole of Serbia.

Bogdanovic recalled that solving the status of Kosovo is most important for Serbia and added that unity is necessary on all issues relating to the province.

We want mutual respect and understanding so that we can send a message to Serbs and non-Albanians as well as to Albanians and the international community that Serbia is united about Kosovo-Metohija, the Minister concluded.
