Malovic said after the meeting that one of the topics discussed today was the organisation and reorganisation of the courts, prosecution and magistrates’ courts within the framework of new judicial laws which are being prepared and which should be on the agenda of the Serbian parliament’s autumn session.
We also considered the possibility of the judiciary functioning in the framework of international courts. The issues we will discuss with UNMIK representatives are those vitally important for the functioning of the judiciary, prosecution and magistrates’ courts in Kosovo, said Malovic.
Bogdanovic said that the strengthening of state institutions in Kosovo has already begun, and added that the meeting was constructive and agreement was reached on how Serbian ministries will help deal with the judicial vacuum in northern Kosovo.
We will continue talks with UNMIK representatives, and representatives of the Serbian judiciary in Kosovo will be included in these talks. We will not make any decision without the consent of the people who live here because it is extremely important to resolve local problems with the help of the Serbs who live in the province, said the Minister.
President of the magisterial council in Pristina Ljiljana Stevanovic said that it was agreed at the meeting with Bogdanovic and Malovic to continue talks with UN administration representatives to resolve problems in the functioning of courts in northern Kosovo.
Talks will be led on our behalf by the Serbian Justice Ministry, and we will support any agreement which the ministry will reach to resolve this problem, said Stevanovic.
