The donation agreement was signed by Japanese Ambassador to Serbia Tadashi Nagai and Director of the Aleksandrovac health centre Ljubisa Pantic.
The donation will be used to purchase two ambulances and improve primary health care services at the centre.
Nagai said that the Japanese government has a tradition of helping health centres in Serbia, and during the last ten years Japan has provided help worth €5.6 million through projects for meeting the public’s basic needs.
According to Nagai, the total amount provided by Japan to Serbia since 1999 stands at €197.4 million.
Pantic stressed that the 30,000 people living in 52 nearby villages will find this help very valuable and it will now be easier to transfer patients not only to the health centre in Aleksandrovac but if needed to hospitals in Krusevac, Nis and Belgrade as well.
