According to a statement issued by the Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija, Stevic pointed out the problems Serbs and other non-Albanians are confronted with in daily life, particularly the problems related to electricity supply.
Stevic, who is also president of the Coordinating Centre, expressed concern over the sale of Serb property in the central part of the province, and added that he hopes that the international community will help put a stop to this process.
The Assistant Minister stressed that every step taken on the basis of Ahtisaari’s plan is unacceptable for Serbs, such as reconfiguration of UNMIK without Security Council approval.
Stevic said that the Coordinating Centre office in Kosovska Mitrovica will begin to work on September 15 and announced that the salary system for Serbs in Kosovo will be reformed, and the problem of unemployment will be resolved through two strategies, the National Investment Plan and opening of small and medium-sized enterprises.
Linderfalk showed interest in the work of the Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija, and the organisation and activities of the Coordinating Centre as part of the Ministry.
He talked about the social position and the possibilities of providing employment to Serbs in Kosovo, as well as decentralisation in Kosovo.
He said that he is willing to visit Kosovo, and voiced hope that problems in the province will soon be resolved.
