Serbian government supports Paralympics athletes

Serbian Minister of Youth and Sports Snezana Samardzic-Markovic said today that the Serbian government is supporting Paralympics athletes and this sends out the message that our social order must be based on the principles of equality.

Speaking at a reception held for 14 athletes who will participate in the Paralympic Games in Beijing, Samardzic-Markovic said that qualifying for the Paralympics is success in itself since that is not easy given the tough competition round the world.
The Minister recalled that Serbian athletes have represented their country until now at the Paralympics with honour and triumph.
Mayor of Belgrade Dragan Djilas, who hosted the reception, said that the City of Belgrade will provide funds for Serbian athletes to participate in the games, as it did for athletes who took part in the Olympic Games.
He said to the athletes that every medal they win will be a gold medal because that will be the result of a great deal of sacrifice.
The reception was also attended by Defence Minister Dragan Sutanovac and Minister of Trade and Services Slobodan Milosavljevic.
