Bogdanovic, who attend the consecration ceremony of the newly built Church of the Lord’s Resurrection, stressed that the deal between the two missions means legalisation of Martti Ahtisaari’s plan which was not accepted by the UN and was rejected by Belgrade.
He stressed that Belgrade and Kosovo Serbs cannot accept agreements of UNMIK and EULEX and added that Serbia is ready for constructive dialogue with UNMIK representatives noting that it is the only legitimate organ with which talks can be held.
The Minister said that confusing information is coming from Pristina about the technical agreement between UNMIK and EULEX.
We oppose the agreement between UNMIK and EULEX as it violates UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and international law, said Bogdanovic, noting that the Serbian government was against UNMIK's reconfiguration as well.
Bogdanovic said that at the upcoming UN General Assembly, Serbia will face a difficult struggle to get support for its demand that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) states its opinion on the legality of Kosovo’s unilaterally declared independence.
He said he expects Serbia’s initiative to be well met and the majority of UN countries to support its stance, though it will not be easy.
Our diplomacy is doing all it can for the initiative. We expect a positive outcome and that all countries who were intending to recognise Kosovo’s independence hold back and wait for the ICJ’s decision. We hope that the court will react promptly, said Bogdanovic.
