Ivanovic told the FoNet news agency that it is certain that the UN in New York will not accept the transfer of authority so readily.
Anyway, a decision like that must be backed by the UN Security Council and those in charge of peace operations, which was clearly made known to representatives of UNMIK and EULEX in Pristina, said Ivanovic.
Asked whether Russia is using Serbia and Kosovo for its own interests, Ivanovic answered that Russia has had a principled position on Kosovo from the very beginning.
Russia has pointed out the necessity of respecting the territorial integrity of Serbia. As a permanent member of the UN Security Council, it had and has to be asked on every change in the UN mandate in Kosovo-Metohija, Ivanovic stressed.
Once a precedent is set, it can be used and abused, he said adding that the Kosovo case can be inspiring for separatist movements, pointing out South Ossetia and Aphasia.
