Ivanovic told the Tanjug news agency that he told Haysom that if someone wants to act under UNMIK, they should know that the chief is in New York, not in Brussels.
UNMIK will stay here as long as it takes, Ivanovic said and added that Haysom approved our support of Resolution 1244, noting that everyone in Kosovo essentially needs UNMIK.
Ivanovic told Haysom, who is currently replacing UNMIK Chief Lamberto Zannier, that the police, judiciary and customs cannot act as Kosovo institutions, as they would in that case be institutions of an independent state that Serbs and Serbia do not recognise.
A solution needs to be found allowing UNMIK the role it had before concerning these important topics, Ivanovic said and added that they also discussed the Kosovo Property Agency that should actually deal with the usurped property of Serbs.
