Jeremic, who is in Singapore today, said in a statement to the Tanjug news agency that he met with Singapore Minister of Foreign Affairs Balaji Sadasivan who informed him that his country will vote for the resolution Serbia will submit at the UN General Assembly in September.
He stressed that Singapore does not intend to recognise the unilaterally declared independence by Kosovo-Metohija and that it considers this act a dangerous precedent which may cause instability throughout the world.
According to him, Singapore is firmly committed to the respect of international law and believes that it must be the basis for solving all international conflicts.
Speaking about bilateral relations between Serbia and Singapore, Jeremic said that this economic and scientific world power is extremely interested in furthering its relations with Serbia in these fields.
The Minister said that they agreed to have a Serbian scientific and economic delegation visit Singapore soon, probably led by Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic.
I believe there is great capacity for bilateral cooperation, and economic relations are very satisfactory, which Singapore’s support to the Kosovo issue has merely confirmed, said Jeremic.
As part of the diplomatic offensive for garnering support to Serbia’s initiative, Jeremic
visited Malaysia yesterday, which decided to freeze the Kosovo independence recognition process, and the final stance on its support to Serbia’s resolution Malaysia will determine prior to the UN General Assembly in September.
