Upon signing the contract on business cooperation between the Fund of the Paralympics Committee of Serbia, Banca Intesa and Visa International at the Belgrade City Hall, Samardzic-Markovic said that there must be no discrimination in the system of Serbia’s top-level sports.
According to her, Serbia’s 15 Paralympics athletes who are travelling to Beijing on August 30 deserve maximum support from all relevant institutions, and this project is good because owing to it, participation in top-level sports will become a thing of talent and will, not privileges, as it has been the case so far.
Member of Banca Intesa’s executive board Dejan Tesic said that all those who decide to help Paralympics athletes in this way will get lower interest rates and a whole series of benefits. He explained that 0.45% of each transaction made by a Visa Classic Paralympics card will be paid into the account of the Fund of the Paralympics Committee of Serbia.
President of the Fund Zoran Micovic said that the goal of this fund, established a year and a half ago, is to secure financial assistance for athletes with disabilities and to adjust all sports facilities to their needs.
We want our athletes who returned from many international competitions with trophies and medals to get the status they deserve in society, and not to maintain them through individual humanitarian campaigns, Micovic said.
