Director of the Serbian government’s Office for Media Relations Milivoje Mihajlovic said today that cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) entails fulfilment of international obligations, which is one of the principles on which the Serbian government has been established.

In a statement to the media, Mihajlovic said that the government continues the policy of strict respect for international law, which is precisely the main cornerstone in Serbia’s battle for keeping Kosovo-Metohija within its borders.
Cooperation with the tribunal is defined under Serbian law and international law and means meeting international obligations. Not even the previous government found it necessary to re-examine cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, and the question of cooperation was never on the government’s agenda for discussion, said Mihajlovic.
According to Mihajlovic, the government will continue to insist that all crimes are treated equally in the Hague tribunal, that there are no less important victims, and no privileged criminals.
