Bogdanovic said that these two issues are the Serbian community’s biggest problems in Kosovo-Metohija, which does not have elementary safety.
We want to have permanent contacts with UNMIK and I want to believe that we are on the same task and that we are going to solve problems together, the minister said and reiterated that no forced solution, including the deployment of EULEX without Serbia’s consent, can bring any good.
Bogdanovic said that any decision on the reconfiguration of UNMIK must be approved by the Security Council, otherwise new tensions and conflicts will arise.
Serbia wishes to reach a mutually acceptable solution through negotiations, a solution which will be acceptable for Serbs, Albanians and the international community, said the Minister and stressed that for Serbia UNMIK is the only legitimate international mission in Kosovo, all other missions are illegal and the Serbian government cannot negotiate with their representatives to solve problems in the province.
According to Bogdanovic, any solution, even EULEX, cannot be imposed since it could worsen conflicts, as was the case on March 17 this year, said Bogdanovic.
He added that Serbia cannot accept anything illegitimate which is not in accordance with the national interest and government policy.
Responding to the question how the government will react if attempts are made to deploy the EULEX mission in northern Kosovo, the Minister replied that Serbia will oppose this move in a civilized and diplomatic way.
Bogdanovic reiterated that the Serbian government’s policy will be a pro-European one, but any EU presence in the form of the EULEX mission must be approved by the Security Council.
