According to the statement issued by the Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija, Serbian Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Goran Bogdanovic, Minister of Religion Bogoljub Sijakovic and Minister of Culture Nebojsa Bradic attended the meeting on behalf of the Serbian government, and SPC was represented by Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral Amfilohije, head of the Holy Synod’s committee for Kosovo-Metohija and Bishop of Raska and Prizren Artemije and SPC representative in the process of renovation of churches and monasteries under the organisation of the Council of Europe Vicar Bishop Teodosije of Lipljan.
It was agreed at the meeting that problems which demand urgent action are the position of SPC, survival and return of the Serb population, as well as protection of Serbian cultural and religious heritage in Kosovo.
It was agreed that each of the three ministries will take their share of responsibilities. The issue of return will be dealt with by the Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija, renovation of religious and cultural buildings will be the duty of the Ministry of Culture, while the Ministry of Religion will resolve problems in the work of the Diocese of Raska and Prizren and the Patriarchate of Pec.
The issue of Kosovo is a national and political one, but to the same degree it also concerns the SPC and because of this there must be coordination between the work of the church and state.
SPC representatives and the government reached agreement that aims of future work will be defined at the next meeting, and all three ministries will prepare proposals to deal with specific problems, concludes the statement.
