Serbian Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Goran Bogdanovic spoke today with Bishop of Raska and Prizren Artemije on the situation in the southern Serbian province.
According to a ministry statement, the meeting focused on the position of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) in the newly emerged situation, after the illegal proclamation of independence by Kosovo-Metohija and its recognition by the US and EU’s crucial countries.
Bishop Artemije familiarised Bogdanovic the problems SPC members are facing every day and pointed to the difficult position of the clergy and believers.
He asked for the Ministry’s support in preserving the Serbian religious and cultural heritage in Kosovo and pointed out the necessity for a more active approach to reconstruction projects of SPC churches and monasteries in Kosovo.
Bogdanovic said the Serbian government is resolute in the principled defence of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Kosovo as a part of Serbia.
He also presented Bishop Artemije with the Ministry’s plans to promote the position of SPC members in Kosovo and protect the Serbian religious and cultural heritage in the province.
