Speaking at a roundtable on the reform of the security system as a condition for EU integration, Miscevic said that all changes should be made on account of society itself and its citizens, and not only because it is a precondition for EU accession.
State Secretary of the Serbian Ministry of Defence Zoran Jeftic said that a comprehensive reform of the armed forces and security services began in 2003 and said that it will be continued through reorganisation of the Ministry itself.
Giving one of the issues not clearly defined enough, he mentioned the status of civil protection which, due to the former structure of the state union of Serbia-Montenegro, was divided into federal and republic levels.
Jeftic said that Serbia has capacities to fully provide civil protection, but that it is necessary to make it clear whether it falls within the competence of the army, the police or some ministry.
