Serbian soldiers showed how they surpass water barriers in armoured and amphibious vehicles, as well as their skills in using equipment for underwater transport and navigation.
Present at the exercise was Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac, who said that Serbian soldiers carried out the exercise most satisfactorily.
Sutanovac stressed that members of the Ground Forces 1st Brigade and the River Flotilla performed the task impressively.
According to him, the aim of the exercise was to have soldiers spend more time practising in the field. He added that "Otter 2008" is the first exercise of this kind carried out after 18 years.
Chief of General Staff General Major Zdravko Ponos said that the exercise was carried out excellently and in accordance with the training plan adopted last year. He also announced that in future, Serbian soldiers will be spending more time in the field.
Commander of the Ground Forces 1st Brigade General Major Mladen Cirkovic recalled that an exercise was recently carried out in Titel whose aim was to show army helping civilians in case of natural disasters.
