Vuk Jeremic
Appearing on television B92 yesterday, Jeremic stressed that the unilateral proclamation of Kosovo independence was properly annulled by Serbian parliament and thus all acts stemming from it, therefore the Kosovo constitution is in fact of no legal consequence to Serbia.
The Serbian Constitution and Serbian laws are implemented in Serbia’s entire territory, while in Kosovo, in line with Resolution 1244, we have UNMIK, the international civil presence which cannot be changed without a Security Council resolution, explained the Minister.
He said that there is increasing pressure on all states in the world to acknowledge the illegally proclaimed independence of the Serbian province and added that implementation of the Kosovo constitution will probably be used as an argument to increase the pressure.
It is possible that the small number of countries recognising the independence now increases by a country or two, but I believe that few countries are ready to stand behind the breach of Resolution 1244 and international law, said Jeremic.
