Loncar conveyed a message of severe protest to Norwegian Education Minister Bård Vegar Solhjell and Slovenian Minister of Education and Sport Milan Zver, who are co-presiding over the conference.
The organisers of the conference gave the Kosovo Albanian delegation the status of an independent country’s delegation, and as its members are not part of an UNMIK delegation, which according to Security Council Resolution 1244, is the only body that has authority for participation in international gatherings, we therefore have no choice but to walk out of the conference, said Loncar in his protest note.
Prior to the conference, we pointed out the mistake made by the organisers and made enormous efforts to make it clear to them that participants should participate according to the invitation extended to them, and the Kosovo delegation was invited to participate as UNMIK- Kosovo, said Loncar.
The Serbian Education Minister said that the Serbian delegation expressed regret over the fact that it was made impossible for them to take part in the conference and actively contribute to the dialogue on current issues concerning education in Europe.
