Brajovic said that this is one of the most important film archives in Europe and the world, therefore it is no wonder that foreign donators decided to help reconstruct the facility.
He said that thus Europe is actively involved in Serbia’s cultural policy and stressed that by preserving and improving cultural heritage Serbia becomes part of the best European tendencies.
Director of the Yugoslav Film Archive Radoslav Zelenovic informed Djilas and Brajovic on the reconstruction work dynamics and recalled that the deadline is November 15.
According to him, interior works will follow and three new cinema halls, a library, exhibition space and offices will be furnished.
He said that the archive is expected to open on June 6, 2009, when this institution marks its 60th anniversary.
Djilas expressed satisfaction that the 19th century building, which at the time housed the Belgrade municipality, is now a cultural institution.
He said that RSD 80 million was set aside from NIP funds for the reconstruction of this institution which is of invaluable cultural importance.
The Minister said that several thousand projects are competing for NIP funds for the next year and noted that the new government will decide who will get the funds.
