Four trucks carrying 155 tents for 2,500 people have headed for Budapest, from where they will be transported to China in a special aircraft.
Sutanovac said that the tents were sent to China because Chinese representatives said that this form of aid is needed most at the moment as the people were left homeless.
He said that the Serbian government held a session via telephone today to approve humanitarian aid, and added that it was necessary to make a decision regarding that today in order not to miss the special flight from Budapest.
The Defence Minister said that the aid is worth nearly €200,000 and was provided by the Defence Ministry. He added that other ministries will also send aid to China.
Sutanovac said that there is excellent cooperation with the Chinese Defence Ministry and very soon a meeting will be held between the chiefs of general staff of the two countries.
Counsellor at the Chinese embassy in Belgrade Chen Bo expressed gratitude to the Serbian government and the Defence Ministry for the aid, and said that the convoy of four trucks is carrying not only tents, but a message of support and solidarity from the Serbian nation to the people of China.
