Jeremic expressed assurance that the agreement will bring India and Serbia closer, noting that the two countries are closely cooperating on all issues, including political.
He said that India has a firm and clear position on the southern Serbian province and that it opposes Kosovo’s independence.
Serbian Minister of Science Ana Pesikan, who attended the signing of the agreement, recalled that a delegation of the Science Ministry visited India in February and spoke with Indian Minister of Science, Technology and Ocean Development Kapil Sibal.
Swarup expressed assurance that the cooperation will be more productive to the benefit of both sides.
The programme establishes priority areas for researchers from Serbia and India, namely information technologies, agriculture technology, biotechnology, nanotechnology, energy efficiency, water resource management and construction of innovation centres.
The programme pertains from the Agreement on scientific and technical cooperation signed by the Council of Ministers of Serbia-Montenegro and the Indian government from October 28, 2004.
