Monument to victims of NATO bombing unveiled

Serbian Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac unveiled today in front of the Dragisa Misovic clinical centre a monument dedicated to guards and patients killed in the 1999 NATO bombing.

Addressing friends and families of the seven soldiers and three civilians, Sutanovac said that their sacrifice should be a reminder to everyone that human life must not be toyed with.
He said that none of the unfortunate soldiers and civilians was guilty of anything and that after their death the world has not become a better place.
He said that a memorial will be built in the near future dedicated to all members of the armed forces who were killed in 1999 and earlier.
The monument is the work of sculptor Kolja Milunovic, and parents of the killed guards expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to its construction. Parents of victims said that Dr Aleksandar Bajec who works at the hospital also deserves credit for the construction of the memorial, for efforts he made for it to be built since 2000.
