Agreement on radioactive waste material signed

Serbian Minister of Environmental Protection Sasa Dragin signed today with representatives of the Vinca Institute of Nuclear Science the Agreement on takeover, transport and storage of radioactive waste material detected in metal waste in the collection process.

Under this agreement, Vinca assumes responsibility that the collection, handling, safe transport and storage of radioactive waste material is performed only by proper technical and health institutions and that they should be available non-stop, 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
The Ministry set aside RSD 500,000 for realisation of this agreement, through which the authorised expert institution will channel the sources of ionising radiation found in the field and prevent it from harming people and the environment.
