Speaking at the opening ceremony, Milosavljevic said that 410, 000 agricultural farms have been registered so far in Serbia, which is 60,000 more than last year, and that realisation of the project “Village of the 21st century“ should begin soon, with support from the National Investment Plan.
Last year Serbia had record food exports, worth $1.7 billion, with a $700 million surplus. The projected export for this year is $2 billion, and the surplus is expected to exceed $800 million.
The guests were also welcomed by General Manager of the Novi Sad Fair Aleksandar Andrejevic, who, recalling the recent privatisation of the fair, said that it would be desirable that this institution gets a strategic partner from France, Italy, Germany or Great Britain, which would guarantee its further prosperity.
The 75th international agricultural fair, at which more than 2,000 exhibitors from Serbia and abroad will present their products and services until May 17, was opened by President of Serbia Boris Tadic.
