The Serbian Privatisation Agency stated that the Pancevo-based airplane maker in restructuring Utva Avioindustrija was given consent to sign a contract with the public company Jugoimport SDPR to produce 20 airplanes for a foreign client.
The statement adds that such a successful contract will considerably increase Utva’s production capacities and its financial position, as well as preserve and further develop Serbia’s airplane industry.
Therefore the Agency finds this contract to be of huge importance for further development of Utva Avioindustrija as it will improve its competitiveness prior to the upcoming privatisation process.
The Agency also voiced hope that the business deal closed with Jugoimport SDPR will be a successful one and that Utva Avioindustrija will be additionally strengthened, adds the statement.
