Serbian Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Slobodan Samardzic presented today to a UN team of investigators material evidence which clearly shows that UNMIK and KFOR were responsible for the violence which broke out in Kosovska Mitrovica on March 17, 2008.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija, at a meeting with the UN team which is collecting facts related to the events of March 17 this year in Kosovska Mitrovica, Samardzic conveyed Belgrade’s stance regarding the steps taken by UNMIK police and KFOR during their entry into a court building where Serbian judges were arrested, and incidents which followed.
The Minister talked to the four member UN team and stressed that Belgrade is ready to fully cooperate during the further course of the investigation, in order to ascertain the identity of individuals responsible for incidents ensuing from events which took place on March 17.
He stressed that establishing responsibility for that incident is extremely important for the process of stabilising the situation in Kosovo and to restore the confidence of Serbs and other non-Albanians in international institutions and above all to return credibility to the UN and UNMIK.
The meeting was attended by assistant ministers for Kosovo-Metohija Branislav Alendar and Ljubomir Kljakic, reads the statement.
