Following a tour of the maternity hospital, Milosavljevic told the press that €2.3 million was invested in it and that €4 million was committed to the urology hospital, thanks to the Czech government.
He explained that the Ministry of Health and Belgrade city authorities provided the funds and reconstruction was carried out according to the highest international standards and specified that the maternity hospital has an intensive care ward and three operating theatres fully equipped for work at top standards.
There are 58 maternity hospitals in Serbia that will be reconstructed the way this one was, said Djilas.
Djilas added he hopes that after a nine-year break, this maternity hospital will again assist in the birth of 2,000 newborns every year.
Acting Mayor of Belgrade Zoran Alimpic said that the city invested RSD 250 million in the reconstruction of the two buildings.
In the past three years, the Health Ministry has set aside RSD 20.6 million from the budget for equipment and over RSD 23.7 million for investment maintenance for the Dr Dragisa Misovic hospital. From end-2006 to 2008, nearly RSD 191.6 million was set aside for this purpose from the NIP.
