Serbian Minister of Trade and Services Predrag Bubalo said today in Novi Pazar that due to its proximity with Montenegro and the developed private entrepreneurship, this town has great chances of becoming an important economic and trade centre in the region.
Following a meeting with Novi Pazar municipal president Sulejman Ugljanin, Bubalo told the press that they discussed possibilities for opening an industrial zone in the town.
According to him, there are economic and urban reasons for the realisation of this idea, and a customs free zone could be formed in one portion of the industrial zone.
Bubalo said that exporters could thus be stimulated because they would not be burdened by customs fees and taxes.
The Minister stressed that a complex comprising fairgrounds and a distribution centre is to be built in Novi Pazar where daily trade transactions could be carried out and which could function as a storage space for the goods intended for neighbouring cities and countries.
Ugljanin stressed that the cooperation between the Novi Pazar local self-government and the Serbian government is very successful.
