Serbian Minister of Infrastructure Velimir Ilic and director of Zeleznice Srbije Milanko Sarancic opened a reconstructed railway crossing on the Kraljevo-Cacak railroad at Atenica in Cacak, worth RSD 10 million and financed by the relevant ministry.
Ilic said that the equipment for making one railway crossing safe must be imported and costs around €200,000 and advocated that entrepreneurs in Serbia begin producing such equipment.
He voiced regret about the many lives lost at that crossing because it was not properly controlled and recalled that there are around 2,400 uncontrolled crossings throughout Serbia.
Sarancic and Cacak Municipal President Velimir Stanojevic signed a contract according to which the local self-government will set aside RSD 125,000 a month to finance the operation and maintenance of the said crossing.
