During a visit to Valjevo, Petrovic said that the supreme court of cassation and courts of appeal should be constituted in autumn, and that is when it will be decided whether Serbia will get an administrative court.
Misdemeanour courts should be established in Serbia as well. The judges in those courts will be appointed by Serbian parliament, instead of the Serbian government, as has been the case so far.
According to him, in cooperation with the Serbian Ministry of Interior and the Security and Intelligence Agency, big steps forward will be made in protecting members of the judiciary by the end of the year and the protection system for judges and prosecutors will be rounded off.
Physically securing courts and prosecutor’s offices will be completed in autumn with the purchase of necessary equipment, such as security doors, Petrovic said and added that a judiciary guard will be fully formed.
During the visit to Valjevo, the minister also visited the building of the former Valjevska Bank, which, after renovation, will accommodate the prosecutor’s offices and misdemeanour courts.
