Ilic visits construction site of Avala tower

Serbian Minster of Infrastructure Velimir Ilic and members of the Committee for construction of Avala tower said today that works should be completed by the end of the year.

The new tower is being built at the place where this symbol of Belgrade was pulled down nine years ago, and to mark the occasion minister Ilic and committee members visited the construction site today.
Ilic praised the efforts of all those who have taken part in constructing the new tower, from city institutions to the Ministry and the Serbian government, and said that he is sorry that the investor is behind schedule with the construction works.
The funds set aside for construction of the tower stand at €8.5 million, and €4.5 million has been spent since December 2006, when construction began.
Ilic said that works should be accelerated and that very favourable weather conditions should be used.
