Ilic said in a meeting with
Russian Energy Minister Victor Khristenko that it was agreed at yesterday’s government session that all MPs back the ratification of the energy agreement with Russia following the May 11 parliamentary elections.
Ilic said he is sorry that the ratification has been delayed, noting that after its adoption Serbia would get a series of benefits, including reduction of taxes on oil imports, which would contribute to the development of Serbian economy.
The Minister explained that there is a delay in implementation of joint projects because of early parliamentary elections in Serbia scheduled for May 11 and once again expressed satisfaction with the support by the Russian Federation to Serbia concerning Kosovo-Metohija as well as solving its energy problems.
Ilic also said that he is happy that the gas pipeline will run through the whole territory of Serbia, which will not bring oil supply of the whole Serbia into question.
Khristenko said that Russia attentively and with understanding monitors the processes in Serbia and added that Russian-Serbian contacts have intensified lately and are developing in good directions.
We managed to make serious intergovernmental agreements and that pace should be maintained, said Khristenko.
The Russian Minister expressed assurance that today’s meeting with Minister Ilic will also help set tasks that need to be done in the future.
