After giving the lecture, organised by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, Jeremic said that Serbia is a key state for the successful integration of the entire Balkans into the EU.
Parliamentary elections will be held soon in Serbia, at which a democratic decision will be made whether the western Balkans will become part of the EU, or the region will be left out of that project due to historical circumstances, Jeremic said and added that Germany shares this opinion.
He voiced satisfaction with the level of interest shown by the German public in this lecture and added that it was attended by representatives of the Bundestag, media, NGOs and the German government.
The main conclusion of this great panel is that Germany strongly supports the project of integration of the entire western Balkans into the EU, Jeremic said.
Jeremic said that he reiterated Serbia’s firm stance at the lecture that it will not desist from defending its territorial integrity and sovereignty under any circumstances.
Serbia will continue to defend its integrity by using all legal, political and diplomatic means, he said and added that this must not be linked to European integration.
Jeremic said that a solution for this situation, largely aggravated by the unilateral proclamation of independence by Kosovo, should be sought precisely in the project of European integration.
On April 25, the Serbian foreign minister will travel to London where he will have a series of bilateral meetings and interviews with representatives of the most important British media.
