The conference is the largest e-business event in Serbia dedicated to the development of domestic and foreign electronic markets including Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Macedonia.
Bubalo said that the fact businesspeople, bankers and insurance companies are participating in the conference shows that there is a huge interest in electronic trade in Serbia and it was being availed of even before work began on laws relating to the area.
He said that electronic trade is still not developed enough in Serbia, and an even bigger problem is that it is not regulated by laws, and added that this is the only obstacle to the faster development of electronic trade in Serbia.
Regardless of the absence of legal regulations, a significant number of transactions are being made electronically, above all, in banking and insurance, and this is the fastest way of joining the modern trends in business, said the Minister.
According to Bubalo, last year the Trade Ministry finalised the text of the law on trade, which resolves all questions related to trade and provides basic principles applicable to electronic trade.
However, considering the fact that the area of electronic trade is extensive, the ministry has designed a special law to cover it, which has been presented to experts for debate at the conference today, said Bubalo.
