Djelic said that as for financing the small and medium-sized enterprise sector (SME), the plan is to introduce start-up loans without mortgage, with an interest rate of 1%.
The loans would include 3,000 start-ups and the goal is to open 12,000 new jobs throughout Serbia, said Djelic.
As an additional incentive, Djelic announced a tax reduction for employee salaries from 12% to 10%, as well as a reduction in the statutory reserves of business banks with the National Bank of Serbia for start-up loans.
He also said that the announced possibility of registering companies at one place, ensuring greater efficiency and coordination of inspectorates, implementation of electronic signatures, as well as the adoption of the law on electronic business will significantly improve business conditions in the SME sector.
There are around 309,000 SMEs and entrepreneurs in Serbia and the survey conducted among 450 of the most successful entrepreneurs shows that over 95% of them increased the number of their employees in 2007 by around 22%.
