New opportunities for expanding economic cooperation between Serbia, China

Belgrade, 22 July 2026

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović met yesterday with President of the Municipality of Merošina Saša Jovanović, a delegation of Beijing Zhixing Carbon, led by General Manager Wu Yanbin, and President of Malbex WBI Milan Bjelić.

The meeting focused on a potential project in Merošina, which will contribute to the further development of the Serbian economy, new investments and job creation.

In addition, it was emphasised that the Free Trade Agreement between Serbia and the People's Republic of China opens up new opportunities for Serbian and Chinese companies, enables a greater volume of trade exchange, additional investments and an even stronger connection of the two economies.

It was also added that the steel friendship between Serbia and China, which are built by presidents Aleksandar Vučić and Xi Jinping, represents a strong foundation for further strengthening political and economic relations between the two countries.

During the conversation, it was noted that Serbia is today building a modern and economically strong future, continuing to strengthen partnerships that bring new investments and stimulate economic development.
