Serbian Minister of Finance Mirko Cvetkovic said that the government will take care of employing workers who were forced to quit their jobs in the institutions of Kosovo-Metohija after the unilateral proclamation of independence by Kosovo.

Cvetkovic said that way of life of Serbs in northern Kosovo-Metohija differs greatly from the way of life of Serbs in the enclaves and that those people need help.
The Serbian government has started to fulfil promises on employing those workers, but it has encountered problems related to the adoption of by-laws.
He gave as an example the fact that the Ministry of Finance received a request to employ a certain number of people in the customs and tax administrations. However this is carried out in line with an internal directive that requires those people to submit documentation of their previous employment in Kosovo-Metohija.
The Minister said that the government has set aside €500 million for Kosovo and that these funds are being spent regularly and according to a plan through individual ministries.
Speaking about the
decision of the RTB Bor privatisation board to cancel the sales contract with A-Tec, he said that it was not easy to make such a decision, but the potential partner already at the beginning failed to fulfil its contractual obligation.
Cvetkovic voiced hope that the government will approve this decision and added that it was made together with representatives of the leadership and unions of RTB Bor.
