In a statement to the news agency Tanjug, Samardzic stressed that the letter which was published on the website of the Slovenian Foreign Ministry, asserts that not only Kosovo-Metohija but Serbia as well, is a unique case.
He specified that Rupel and Kouchner state in the letter that it is irresponsible of Serbia to seek EU membership, while refusing to cooperate with its missions, and pointed to the fact that the letter puts forward two additional conditions for Serbia’s future European integration.
The first condition is that Serbia should accept the EU mission in Kosovo-Metohija, and the other is development of good regional cooperation with the province, which means that Serbia is being asked to practically recognise Kosovo’s independence, explained Samardzic.
According to Samardzic, the open letter by Rupel and Kouchner is the worst insult to Serbia as an internationally recognised state so far by EU top officials.
Considering the fact that it is the EU which has a problem with its internal and international law and not Serbia, the EU must reconsider its policy towards Serbia which during the past few months has been based on the violation of law, said Samardzic.
He explained that Serbia and the EU must begin to talks about the issues which are obstacles on Serbia’s path to Europe.
