Following the
signing of the agreement on EU’s financial assistance to Serbia in the framework of the IPA funds, Djelic said that it is important that the report is positive because the security situation in the upcoming period will be of key importance regarding the decision to remove visa restrictions for Serbian citizens.
He said that today, during the meeting held within the framework of the EU Enhanced Permanent Dialogue on the liberalisation of the visa regime, he once again called upon the EU ambassadors and European Commission representatives to remove visa restrictions and as a first step to issue visas free of charge to Serbian citizens.
According to Djelic, it is the citizens of the poorest countries in Europe who pay for visas, and they are paying for visas to the richest countries.
The Serbian Deputy Prime Minister said that Serbia removed visa restrictions for citizens of EU countries, adding that it would be logical that the EU makes the decision to remove visa restrictions for Serbian citizens.
