Addressing the press on his visit to Rakovica, Djilas said that the trains will be purchased in cooperation with Serbian railway company Zeleznice Srbije, allowing this means of transport to finally become reliable.
He said that four years will be needed to construct metro’s first line and said that that line, which will run from Bulevar Kralja Aleksandra Street to Zemun, will solve many problems faced by Belgraders today.
Several hundred million dinars were invested this year in the reconstruction of Belgrade railroads and added that Beovoz is a great opportunity to revive some parts of the city and connect them with the city centre.
Djilas also visited today works on the tunnel Strazevica, at the ring road around Belgrade, for which RSD 500 million was earmarked from the National Investment Plan (NIP), and the 13 Oktobar street, whose inhabitants have problems with landslides and expropriation.
There are 200 houses in 13 Oktobar Street which are home to more than 600 people, and residents of 36 houses, which are not inside the zone of the tunnel, have problems with landslides.
After listening to the problems and complaints of the residents, the Minister pledged that he will return within a week, and until then the people, in cooperation with the Rakovica municipal administration, should define their problems and needs in detail.
Later Djilas visited the building in which flats were provided to refugees and socially vulnerable persons by the Rakovica municipality, on the initiative of the Minister while he was director of the People’s Office of the President of Serbia.
The municipality refurbished an existing building and provided nine flats to socially vulnerable families. The refurbishment cost €200,000.
