Jeremic, who is on
official visit to Brazil, said in a statement to the FoNet news agency that Brazil will continue to be restrained as regards to Kosovo recognition and that we can expect that Brazil will not recognise the unilaterally declared Kosovo.
He noted that this is especially important since Brazil is the most influential country in Latin America, and through cooperation with other countries such as India and South Africa, it can have a significant influence in the international scene.
It is crucially important that more countries are restrained about recognising Kosovo and therefore it is crucial that we encourage through our diplomacy those countries not to cede to strong pressures to which they are exposed to recognise the southern Serbian province, said the Minister.
According to Jeremic, Brazil is expected to take such position on Kosovo in the UN General Assembly as well.
The Minister stressed that apart from Kosovo, the talks also focused on bilateral cooperation, and noted that Brazil is Serbia’s biggest trade and economic partner in Latin America.
Jeremic stressed that there is room for enlarging the scope of that cooperation, especially in agriculture and energy sectors. He announced that a Brazilian commercial delegation will soon visit Serbia.
