Public debate on Draft law on regional development to begin soon

State Secretary of the Serbian Ministry of Economy and Regional Development Verica Kalanovic said today that a public debate on the Draft law on regional development will begin in a month.
At a meeting with representatives of municipalities which will receive funds from the state budget, Kalanovic said that this law will define the region as a functional, not administrative whole, based on economic development.
She explained that the regional programmes should define projects aimed at development of tourism, not limited by administrative borders of municipalities.
Kalanovic said that in the allocation of funds from the National Investment Plan, the priority will be given to the municipalities that solve their problems in line with the needs of the region.
