Following the meeting held in the Serbian government, Sarancic said that the project of electrification and construction of telecommunications infrastructure on the Nis-Dimitrovgrad line, which is the only Corridor 10 line not electrified.
Agreement was reached that 96 kilometres of the line will be prepared so that works can commence, and plans are that this part of the line will be overhauled, said Sarancic.
He said that today the possibility of GE taking part in the modernisation of 200 kilometres of railway in central Serbia was discussed.
We also talked about the participation of GE in the second most important project in Serbia, the Belgrade-Bar line which needs modernisation and reconstruction of tunnels, said Sarancic.
According to Sarancic, when the tunnels are reconstructed they will also be suitable for carriages transporting heavy cargo, facilitating the transport of goods from the Bar harbour, across Serbia, to central and east Europe.
The talks were also attended by State Secretary at the Serbian Ministry of Infrastructure Miodrag Jocic.
