Popovic told the Tanjug news agency that gas prices for industrial consumers are being adjusted every 15 days, as well as the prices of oil and oil derivatives, but added that the Serbian government refused to approve a gas price increase for households.
The Minister explained that during the winter, many heating plants had to switch to heavy fuel oil due to a gas shortage, the price of which has risen by almost 40% in a very short period.
Speaking about Serbia's efforts to provide enough electrical energy for Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija this winter, he said that even after six months of negotiations, as winter draws to an end, that problem has still not been solved.
According to him, new talks with UNMIK representatives on energy have been scheduled for March 24.
Popovic recalled that Serbia and UNMIK had originally agreed on the basics of a proposal to solve the issue of electrical energy supply to the largest number of Serbian enclaves in Kosovo-Metohija.
The proposal was forwarded to UNMIK and Serbia received a reply on March 10 but with a revised text which apart from UNMIK also mentions the Kosovo Energy Corporation, and that is unacceptable for Serbia, stressed the Minister.
