Ilic said that the motorway will be over 400 km long, will have three lanes in each direction and over 50 bridges as well as 200 tunnels only in Serbia.
The construction of this strategic motorway connecting Serbia and Montenegro will span further towards the Montenegrin port of Bar, making this port a very attractive sea destination, Ilic said.
This road will connect Hungary and Romania with Italy and Greece, and will have a large number of bridges, the two largest being on the Danube and over the Sjenica plateau, Ilic noted adding that the motorway should be completed within about four years.
The Minister called on Montenegro to speed up preparations for the onset of works and to ask the European Commission to define the Horgos-South Adriatic motorway as the southern section of Corridor 10.
According to Ilic, one kilometre of motorway will cost over €100 million, and the project is supported by Italy and Greece as they are interested in using the road.
Ilic reiterated that Serbia is interested in taking part in the privatisation of the Bar port as it has redirected all of its overseas transport from Thessaloniki to Montenegro.
