Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic stated last night that due to the utterly unacceptable and excessive use of force in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica he sent a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon demanding that an investigation be conducted within the organisation to determine how the incident occurred.

Jeremic stated to the FoNet news agency that it should be determined who ordered the use of force and how the incident transpired, particularly because it occurred after consultations and successful negotiations between Serbian Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Slobodan Samardzic and Deputy Chief of UNMIK Larry Rossin.
Jeremic also sent a letter to Chairman of the UN Security Council Russian Ambassador Vitaly Churkin demanding that the Security Council discuss the security situation in the southern Serbian province.
