Serbian Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Slobodan Samardzic said yesterday to Deputy Head of UMIK Larry Rossin that Serbia intends to make an agreement with UNMIK on the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1244 in the newly-emerged circumstances, meaning, after the unilateral proclamation of independence by Kosovo-Metohija.
Samardzic and Rossin talked in Gracanica about current problems that arose after the proclamation of independence.
I pointed out to him that all the activities undertaken by Serbs since then, which sometimes are of a more intensive nature or contain an element of minimal violence, are the result of the illegal proclamation of independence by Kosovo, Samardzic said.
We had a constructive talk and I gave him Serbia’s proposal which I mentioned to UNMIK Chief Joachim Ruecker, and Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic mentioned to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and that is that Serbia intends to make an agreement with UNMIK on the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1244 in the newly-emerged circumstances, and we drew up a proposal of such an agreement, Samardzic said.
That agreement would be binding for Serbia, UNMIK and Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija, Samardzic said.
Samardzic and Rossin also talked about workers from the penitentiary-reformatory centre in Lipljan who have been blockading the offices of the Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija in Gracanica for five days.
